Barbara Skopec is the Head of the Medical Consulting Services in the Haematology Department at the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She is also a teaching assistant in the Division of Haematology at the University of Ljubljana Medical School.

Dr Skopec obtained her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, in 2002 before completing her residency in internal medicine in 2009 and subspecializing in haematology in 2018. She completed her PhD in the field of haematology at the University of Ljubljana Medical School.

Dr Skopec’s research interests include multiple myeloma and immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). She has worked as a visiting fellow at Weill Cornell Medical School, New York, USA and she is a member of the American Society of Hematology and the European Society for Bone and Marrow Transplantation as well as Secretary of the Slovenian Haematological Society.
